The House of Dotł’izhi
We recently had the opportunity to do some interior design work for The House of Dotł’izhi. We helped owner Alicia design a retail space as unique as she is, in the colors and styles that portray not only her Apache, Yaqui, Spanish and French heritage, but showcase the beautiful creations she offers. Every piece she makes is handmade. She handcrafts bespoke, limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces by infusing my unique designs with traditional techniques that were handed down to her by her father and elders. She already had a pretty amazing designed space but it was all white. We helped her infuse more color into her space with adobe colored paint tones, and some rearrangement of her furnishings and artwork; all with the intention to let her work pop, adding interest. The next time you are in Iowa City be sure to check her shop out.
